Confession: I’ve always been more of a lipgloss than a lipstick girl. I think it has something to do with the formulation because I just love the glossy look on my lips. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate and love lipsticks even more. I think it has something to do with the fact that I feel super sophisticated whipping it out and putting it on. Luxury lipsticks are my fave! A lot of the reason I’m back into lipstick application, is because I love that beauty brands are launching so many different lipstick formulation variations. There are the deep, grungy shades from the 90’s that are back (Side note: There’s absolutely no disputing that 90’s lipsticks are the best!) and there’s also some pretty vampy lipsticks like deep plums that I’ve been wearing as well. I also love that there are shades currently out on the market for all skin tones because black girls know (yes, even the light skinned ones such as myself) that the struggle can be real when it comes to finding the best lipsticks for brown skin. From shiny to matte formulations, I’ve been using (and loving!) them all. Here are a few of my current faves:
NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream LipstickĀ
I usually hate matte lip anything, but this one really delivers great color without leaving your lips feeling like pieces of cotton.
Smashbox Be Legendary Matte Lipstick
Here’s another matte formula that I really like as well! There’s also a ton of shades available, which is pretty awesome.
The color delivery for this lipstick is SO.GOOD. It feels like a lip chap on, but the color screams lipstick.
Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick
Here’s another that feels really great on my lips plus features a great range of color.
Maybelline Color Sensational LipcolorĀ
This lipstick is a drugstore gem! It feels good on and there are tons of shades available.
