Hotel Review: The Elyton in Birmingham, Al.

9/15/2017

If there’s one thing that you should know about me it’s this: I love hotels. I became enamored with them as a small child because I loved the idea of a “home away from home.” One of the ways I love treating myself is through staying at a top-notch hotel that features a great pool and spa service. To me, exposure to great hotels is one of the best things about a press trip. The hotels I stayed in during my “Sweet Home Alabama” trip did not disappoint. My favorite was the Elyton Hotel, so of course I had to write this blog post to tell you all about it.

Located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, The Elyton Hotel is actually housed in the iconic Empire Building. The decor on the inside of the hotel is pretty awesome. I loved the floors (black and white!) and the lamps everywhere. The lobby is big and spacious with great furniture. It’s a cool, comfy place to hang out and chill with friends.

Black and white floors + my black and white Converse = match made in hotel heaven. =)

The actual rooms were very boutique-like. My room on the third floor was kind of small (it actually reminded me of my first Manhattan apartment) but it was hella cute. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was wide, spacious and featured two shower heads. Talk about luxurious! While I do love a good shower situation, I would actually have loved a spacious tub situation. But, this shower was awesome and there were beautifully scented Malin + Goetz amenities, so I couldn’t complain.

I’m still obsessed with this cozy nook that was in my room. So cute!

My room featured a full-size length mirror which I looooved! I could definitely use one of these in my own house.

I loved the fun, welcoming vibe of the rooftop bar/restaurant called MoonShine. The views were amazing, the waiters were super nice and the cocktails were tasty and strong.

A special cocktail the bartender made for me at Moonshine. He called it “The Q” and it was delicious!

Chilling with my girl Lexi from LexiWithTheCurls.

Chilling in my robe, wearing no makeup (except the new NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment) right before putting on my glasses and diving into a pile of homework for graduate school. Who knew I would ever be this happy to be doing homework?! #nerdlife

Overall, I would say that I enjoyed my stay here immensely. I loved the welcoming vibe of the staff and the fact that it’s within walking distance near some great food spots – including the Pizitz Food Hall and Trattoria Centrale.

Snapping #usies with awesome new blogger friends at The Pizitz Food Hall in Birmingham, Alabama. The food and drinks here are delicious!

It’s definitely a hotel that I would stay in again and I hope to see it again soon! xoxo
